Brief Description: ​​Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections. The aim of this guideline is to simplify UTI workup so that there is a reflex to urine culture ONLY when the urinalysis has significant findings and to standardize treatment of patients with confirmed UTIs. The guideline provides direction on treatment considerations for patients with symptoms and a positive urinalysis. A table is included to direct providers on the proper empiric treatment to use based on UTI severity and renal function.
