Mouse Model: B6.FVB-Tg(Per2-DsRed*T3)12Obr/Mmjax

Brief Description: Mice that are hemizygous for the clock fluorescent reporter transgene are viable and fertile, normal in size and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. Expression of mPeriod2-DsRED is predominantly directed to the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) with moderate expression in non-neuronal regions of the cerebral cortex, striatum, cerebellum and dentate gyrus. There is limited or no expression in the CA1 area of the hippocampus, Purkinje cell layer of the cerebellum or the piriform cortex and in neurons from other brain regions. This mutant mouse strain may be useful for in vivo imaging of the SCN to monitor circadian clock timing.

Genetic Background

Allele Name: Transgene insertion 12

Allele Type: Transgenic (Reporter)

Gene Symbol: Tg(Per2-DsRed*T3)120br

Site of Expression: DsRed is predominantly expressed in the suprachiasmatic nuclei with moderate expression in non-neuronal regions of the cerebral cortex, striatum, cerebellum and dentate gyrus.
