Brief Description: These transgenic mice express Cre recombinase under the control of the rat growth hormone releasing hormone receptor (Ghrhr). Cre recombinase expression is detected in the pituitary, specifically in cells of the Pou1f1(Pit1) lineage. This strain represents an effective tool for generating tissue specific-targeted mutants that would be useful in studies of pituitary development.

Expression also is found in vibrissae, part of the eyelid and ear, and in hair follicles of the proximal limb.
